FINALLY!!! PICTURES OF THE LAKE

Hi all doggies, kitties and hammies,

Sorry we are so slow at getting our lake pictures posted. Momma keeps saying something about work!! Work Shmurk!!! That's what we have to say!

(What do you mean that's how she keeps us in kibble and treats?? Really?? Okay.... I guess it's ok if she works ;) )

We went to Waskesiu Lake at Prince Albert National Park It was beautiful!!!

Here is where we stayed.

Nikki is that you peeking out?

We saw lots of different animals.
There was a Momma deer and 2 fawns that came into the campground everyday.
Nikki made sure to bark, bark ,bark to keep them away. Silly Nikki!

There was also a momma elk and a baby elk.
Our Momma was to slow to get a picture of the elk baby but she did get this picture of the momma elk.

There were lots of these crawling around too.
We accidently trampled one that crawled into our x-pen. Oops!

Momma took me to the beach with everyone else.
Buddy and Nikki had to stay home.
She said Nikki barks to much and Buddy runs away too much.
Dogs weren't supposed to be at the beach but I was very quiet and well behaved, except for shaking off all the water on me and getting everyone wet! Not my fault-Momma made me go in the water :(

Momma forgot to bring my lifejacket.
I'm not a very good swmmer and don't I really like being in the water, so they made a raft for me for float on.

I started to get a burn on my neck so I went into the shade.

See - my neck is pink!
Just kidding- the color from my red collar started to run so I had a pink ring around my neck for a few days. That's ok. I am secure on my masculinity as a boy dog!

Here is Buddy hanging out in the x-pen. He doesn't need a pillow. He just leans again the wire.

And here's Buddy after a walk. He looks tired!

Nikki went on a walk to the doggie beach.

But she lied down and refused to even get her pawsies wet. Momma didn't make HER go in.

Here we wait as all the 2 leggeds seem to be packing things up.

Are we REALLY leaving?

We are so sad to leave the lake!
But we will be back again next year!
We hope you enjoyed our lake pictures!

ANSWERS TO SASKATCHEWAN QUIZ

Hi DWB's friends,

Thanks for taking part in our Saskatchewan Quiz and thanks for so patiently waiting for the answers.

Here are the answers. Most doggies thought that the incorrect statement was #12 (horsehair dancefloor) or #13 (mountain used for the Oympics was built from garbage). However those both are actually TOTALLY TRUE!

Comet and Blu guess correctly that # 11 is incorrect and so are being awarded this:

Read below to find out more about all the statements.

1. Saskatchewan's population is over 1 million.
True

2. Saskatchewan's official motto is "The Land of the Living Skies"

True - it's even on our license plates.

and here is why:

It was from a Saskatchewan Land of the Living Skies photo album. Unfortunately I have lost the link.

Another SK photo- not mine.

True. This was in Prince Albert on Feb. 1, 1893.

True. Momma remembers the year it snowed on June 1st - how depressing!!
Thank goodness it quickly melted. Snow in Aug is rare but it has happened.

Hard to believe but oh so true! Saskatchewan built this mountain for the 1971 Winter Olympics! See this

Saskatchewan Day And A Fun Quiz About Saskatchewan

Hi doggies, kitties and hammies

We live in the province of Saskatchewan in Canada.

August 4th was Saskatchewan Day. Even though it was a holiday Momma had to work and so she was too busy to post about it on our blog and then she totally forgot about it.

It's a good thing our U.K. friend Blue did a post on Saskatchewan and reminded us. Blue has friends and family in Saskatchewan. In fact she had visited here but unfortunately it was before we had connected with her in blogland. Too bad! We would have loved to meet! We feel a special connection to Blue and consider her an honorary Saskatchewanite!

Anyways, to make up for Momma's lapse us Saskatchewan doggies have been doing our homework and decided to make up a quiz about Saskatchewan.

All of the following statements are absolutely true except for one.

Can you guess which statement is incorrect?

Try not to look it up. Just read through and post your guess.

We will post the correct answer and pictures in about a week.

Hope you have fun!

1. Saskatchewan's population is over 1 million.

2. Saskatchewan's official motto is "The Land of the Living Skies"

3. The very first bird santuary in North America was founded in Saskatchewan.

4. The highest temperature ever recorded in Canada was in Saskatchewan at 45 C / 113 F

5. The coldest official recorded temperature in Saskatchewan is -57° C /-70.6 °F

6. In Saskatchewan the only month that it has never snowed is July.

7. Minnisota, USA may be known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" but Saskatchewan which is totally land-locked has over 100,000 bodies of water.

8. There is a lake in Saskatchewan in which it is impossible to sink.

9. There is a place in Saskatchewan where scientists have located historic findings that date back older than the Great Pyramids of Egypt. These are Native Indian's tipi rings, stone cairns and a medicine wheel.

10. An almost complete set of dinosaur bones has been found in Saskatchewan. The bones are over 56 million years old.

11. Saskatchewan landscape is flat prairieland. In fact the common joke is: "Saskatchewan is so flat that you can sit on the porch and watch your dog run away for 3 days. ( Hey we gotta put some doggie stuff in here somewhere. ) LOL

12. Saskatchewan has the world's only dance floor that is padded with horse hair.

So which statement is the incorrect one?

Momma Visited Meeko Today!

Momma went to visit Meeko today at his new home where he is on a trial adoption. She came back smiling and happy! She told us that Meeko was very excited to see her. Meeko was doing very well and was also very happy with his new owner too. He has been going on walks and playing alot with his new adopter too.

Meeko also got furminated which Momma said was really really needed.
Meeko was doing what Eskies sometimes do which is "blowing his coat" and yes clumps of his hair has literally been blowing off of him as he runs by!

It has happened to us sometimes too. Nikki blew her coat in May and I blew mine mostly in July but still am getting rid of alot now too. Of course Buddy doesn't do that cause he doesn't shed so he has to go in for haircuts every few months.

Anyways back to Meeko. We all decided that since Meeko loved our toys so much and we have so many (now you know what Momma spends her money on) that we would send some of our toys to go and live with him. So we picked out some toys that were his favorite while he was with us.

We sent the following toys with Momma to give to Meeko at his new place:

- the soft fleece pink floppy puppy stuffy that squeeks (we also have another one but we can't find it right now)

- the blue rope toy with a tennis ball attached at either end. Meeko likes to carry it around by the rope in the middle with the tennis balls left hanging.

- the plush tug toy with the soft red ball the end. Meeko likes to carry it around by the ball and bring it to people to play tug.

and most importantly...

- our beloved yellow duck stuffy that quacks and quacks when we chew on it. Okay, since we all love it so much Momma has promised us she will go and buy us another one!!

Here it is:

We hope Meeko is having fun with the toys!

Why Was Momma Crying Today??

Momma was very sad today.

Why?

Because Meeko went away on a trial visit to what may become his new home. Momma and the other rescue people have been doing many e-mails and phone calls to each other to try to decide if this will be the right home for Meeko. Momma says there are some concerns but they are going to give the interested adopters a try to see how it goes with Meeko. The trial period for adoption will go on until August 29.

If it works out he won't be coming back which is both good and sad. Good for Meeko to finally find a forever home and sad for us too 'cause we will miss him (especially Momma and Nikki who both liked Meeko alot). Buddy and I (Casper) just tolerated him.

Momma said this was the hardest it has ever been for her to give up a foster dog. Do you think this is because Meeko is an Eskie? We think so.

Momma has become so attached to Meeko and Meeko is definately attached to Momma. Meeko kept barking and pulling and trying to follow Momma when she left and that was pretty hard for Momma. That's when she started crying...

Don't worry, we are giving her doggie cuddles and Nikki is licking her tears. Momma is going to go visit Meeko tomorrow to drop off some of his favorite toys and see how he is doing. I'll post more once I hear.
