GUESS WHO CAME TO VISIT US ?

WINNIE!!!!

Do you remember her?

Winnie was one of the rescue dogs we fostered. She is an older German Shepherd cross. She lived with us for 7 months and then was adopted out to her furever home which is only a few blocks away from us. Well her new people went on a holiday to Las Vegas and so Winnie came to stay with us for a week. We sure enjoyed having her here again!

Winnie Found Her Furever Home!

Yay for Winnie!!! She's adopted and has a new home!

Winnie was adopted on November 16. She went to her new home and settled in there like she had always lived there. :)) She was adopted by a young couple (and their big dog named Samson). Winnie gets along very well with Samson. And she gets to go to the off-leash dog park twice a day! COOL!
Momma was very sad the day she drove Winnie to her new home. She was even crying, so we made sure to give Momma lots of cuddles that day. And we reminded Momma of all the other doggies we have to help to find their furever homes too.
The really good thing is that Winnie now only lives about 10 blocks away from us and goes to the same off-leash dog park as we do. We are quite sure we will get to visit with her occasionally. Momma is very happy about that!
Bye Bye Winnie! Congratulations on finding your new home!

Pet Expo

Hi doggies, It's Buddy blogging here.

I just want to tell you about our really fun weekend. We spent most of our time at Pet Expo.

There were all sorts of animals and people there. Even a whole bunch of llamas-like about 20. I was very interested in meeting the llamas but Momma said "No" :((

There were also llamas vs the dogs agility competitions, but Momma wouldn't let us enter.
: (( :(( Apparently she had to be sure that we would not bark or run at the llamas and she just couldn't be sure of that. Us bark and run?? Never !! hahaha

Oh well, we got to do tons of other stuff instead. Winnie spent a whole bunch of time at the New Hope Dog Rescue booth and she even met some people who may be interested in adopting her. Keep you paws crossed for Winnie.

Casper and Nikki got to go into the Parade of Breeds since they are purebreed American Eskimo Dogs. They walked around the ring while the commentater was explaining all about Eskies. And guess what Casper did???? He got his nervous, excitable stomach going and decided he needed to take a poop right in front of everyone! And Momma had just taken him outside where he had gone too. Momma was very embarassed! Oh well!

I got to do agility demos. In the first one Momma got mixed up in the course and went the wrong way! Momma what were you doing? In the second agility demo, I wanted to make it up to Momma since she was embarrassed by Casper's pooping episode, so I thought I should get the crowd laughing a bit. I decided the best way to do this would be to go running off the agiltiy course and land in the lap of a nearby child. WOW- IT WORKED !! The crowd laughed and laughed - they just loved me! Even Momma was laughing as she came into the audience to get me. It was so much fun! I think I'm destined for comedy ;)
We have all been very tired since the weekend and have been sleeping alot. Events like this can really tire a doggie out.
See ya,
Buddy

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs Everywhere!

Hi Doggies, Winnie blogging here,

We were so busy on Family Friday that we couldn't even post, so I'm gonna post today for Family Friday even though it's Saturday.

Well there has been doggies , doggies, doggies everywhere here lately! My Foster Momma is very busy with New Hope Dog Rescue and so we had 2 more dogs staying with us for awhile. That made a total of 6 of us doggies in the house (and one was a puppy). Things were really busy around here. The 2 other foster doggies came in from a town about 2 hours away from here and were staying with us until they each went to their new foster homes.

Sheena only stayed with us for the day. She is a Border Collie cross who is BALL- CRAZY !!! She is actually bigger than she looks in this picture, but she is quite a bit smaller than the average Border Collie.

So Sheena went to her foster home and then got into a fight with their dog (over a ball- of course!!) and so my Foster Momma had to find a new foster home for her to stay at. Foster Momma was pretty stressed about this for a while there, 'cause it's not always that easy to find another foster home ASAP, but in the end it all worked out. So now Sheena is at the new foster home and is doing very well. She's really happy 'cause there are 2 kids who can throw the ball for her over and over - and that's what Sheena loves!

The other doggie was a puppy who was here for 4 days, until her new foster home people could come and pick her up. Her name is Lily and she was only 3 months old. Foster Momma thinks she is a real cutie. What do you think?

She is pretty small 'cause she was very sick with parvo and almost died. She was nursed back to health by a wonderful Vet and then came to us while waiting to go to her foster home. Foster Momma says Lily is a real sweetie. She loves to cuddle up to Foster Momma's neck. Lily also loves to wrestle and play with Nikki but Casper and Buddy didn't really want to play with her
'cause she has razor sharp puppy teeth. And well since I'm an old girl, I don't really go for all those puppy antics, (nor that active ball-crazy dog either), so I would just growl at either of them if they came to close to me. Foster Momma was not to happy about that and kept sending me off to be by myself. I was in the "doghouse" so to speak. :((

Anyways , I am now happy to report that both Sheena and Lily are now at their new foster homes and life has settled back to just the 4 of us doggies around here. I think Foster Momma and Nikki will miss Lily the puppy but I sure won't! ;)
See ya doggies,

Family Friday

Hi doggies,
Buddy blogging here. Just thought I would show you some cool pictures from when we went swimming at Bays Waterpaws Canine Aquatic Center which is a special doggie swimming pool in our city. Momma is taking us there to swim 'cause she wants us to be more comfortable swimming.
So here are some pictures.

Here I am swimming in my lifejacket with the nice lady helping me.

And here is proof that I don't need a lifejacket to go swimming!

I look very serious about this swimming stuff!

Here's Casper in his lifejacket.

And here he is swimming without it.

Here is Nikki. She is quite scared of the water, so she kept her lifejacket on. Smart girl!

But Winnie loves the water so she didn't need a lifejacket at all.

Look at that smile!

This time Momma stayed out and took the pictures but next time we are gonna make her come in with us!
Bye Bye,
Hope you enjoyed our Family Friday pictures!

Joey Goes to New Foster Home

Hi doggies, our lastest foster dog Joey has gone to a different foster home, but it's just 1 block away so chances are we will still be seeing him sometimes. It's much much quieter around here now that he is gone . Not that Joey was loud ,but he managed to get all of the rest of us excited and wrestling and making lots of noise. Momma liked Joey alot but is happy 'cause she said it was just getting too nutty around here with the 5 of us. Joey had tons of energy , always wanted to play and succeeded in getting Nikki and Buddy all riled up and then Winnie and I would get in on it too. Momma was forever having to tell us to "settle down" and "that's enough" and stuff like "stop it!!- it's 3 in the morning". Anyways see ya Joey-we'll be looking out for you on our walks.

Foster Dog Update

Well you may have noticed that I haven't posted much about Winnie for awhile. She was off at a new adoptive home for a trial period. We were all very happy that she had her forever home , but it just didn't work out. Winnie kept on jumping the fence and escaping. Hummmm wonder if she was trying to find us or maybe that's how she ended up as a stray in the first place? Anyways Winnie is back with us temporarily. We are on a mission to find her forever home. Here she is settled back in at our house.

And Winnie is not the only foster dog we have. Just 4 days ago we got another one too !! At that time we didn't know Winnie was coming back. The new one is Joey . He is about 1 year old, very playful. Joey is such a cutie!!! He is a medium sized, blonde colored mix- maybe has some lab, some terrier, some spitz...some Heinz 57 !!! LOL :) Picture coming soon.

Mom says the house and yard are too small for the three of us and 2 foster dogs, and that New Hope Dog Rescue will be working on getting the foster dogs adopted. But just in case , we are going to be on our best behavior!!!

Our Foster Dogs

My mama likes to foster dogs. She volunteers with New Hope Dog Rescue. At one time all of us (me, Buddy and Nikki) were rescues too, but mama found us and took us home. Now we foster other dogs who are waiting for their furever homes. We show them the ropes. Like I show them where the best places to nap are. Nikki shows them how to be on guard for that pesky mailman and how best to growl and bark so he goes away real fast! Buddy likes to show the new foster dogs how to wrestle and play, and sometimes he'll even show them the fine art of bolting out the front door and going for a fun run!!

This is Winnie, our current foster dog. She is a 7 year old german shepard cross. She is looking for a new home. She was found running loose in the country and was going to be PTS ( not quite sure what that is but we just know it is something bad!!) You can find out more about her at Petfinders

Here she is showing how she can sit for a treat! Winnie loves treats!!

And Winnie just loves to shake a paw. The first thing she did when she met our mama is to sit down and shake a paw! Now how's that for manners?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before Winnie we had Benny staying with us. Benny is a border collie/ rough collie/? greyhound cross. He had spent most of his life of nine months being tied up in a backyard with noone to play with him :( He was real skinny and when the other dog in the house had puppies the people decided they didn't want Benny anymore :((( A neighbor rescued him and then he came to us. He stayed with us for about 3 weeks in December/06. His pictures don't do him any justice. He found a great home with a couple and 1 other dog who he just loves to play with. No more being tied in a backyard for him!! Benny is now living the good life! He now lives on an acerage AND he goes to agility, obedience and doggie daycare. What a lucky guy!! We are so happy Benny found a great home!!! He deserves it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is Max. He was our very first foster dog. He stayed with us for about a month. Max is a Shiba Inu/ Husky cross. he lost his first home because the couple broke up and neither could keep him. Max is very active and loves to always be playing. Max found a home with a family that has 2 kids for him to play with. He frequently goes for walks now and gets to run alongside a bike when the family goes bike riding.

Isn't he just a cutie?

Most of all Max loves to play fetch!!! Doesn't he look happy with his tennis ball?

Gotta go now. Woof woof!

PS Mommy's favorite saying is:

"Saving just one dog won't change the world, but surely the world will change for that one dog"

Winnie- our foster dog

Winnie is a 7 year old female german shepard/collie cross. She is staying with us for a while until she finds her furever home. We don't have any pictures of her now but we will soon. Mommy you better get on that! She's nice except that she gets really mad at us other dogs if we come near her food or treats, so now Mommy only gives her food and treats in her own crate. Us doggies wonder if she had to fight for food sometimes 'cause she was found running loose in the country and was a bit skinny. Maybe she doesn't know yet that Mommy always feeds us good and gives us lots of treats.
