Take The Pledge

Hi all doggies, GG and Moosie,
Have your people "Taken The Pledge? Our Momma has! Please read below and then get your people to "Take The Pledge" too!
Momma found " The Pledge" when she was looking at this Eskie rescue site. No, Momma's not planning on getting another Eskie. Sometimes she just likes to look at all the beautiful Eskies awaiting furever homes. This can be very sad for Momma, as she wants all doggies to have a furever home. So, Momma wants all doggies to get their people to "Take The Pledge".
Please let us know if your people have taken the pledge, and then pass it on so we can get more people to "Take The Pledge"! This would make Momma very happy!

THE PLEDGE FOR LIFE

I care about animals.
I want to help bring about an end to the homeless animal tragedy.
I believe that the euthanasia of millions of animals in shelters every
year is an unacceptable solution to this tragedy.....
And I understand that my actions have a direct effect,
and that my actions can create change.

I PLEDGE TO NEVER CAUSE AN ANIMAL TO BE IN AN ANIMAL SHELTER

I pledge....
....to understand the commitment of living with a companion animal
....to be ready and willing to accept that commitment
before I bring an animal into my home and my family.
....to educate myself so that I can make a good match when choosing
an animal, and then to save a life by adopting a homeless animal
from a shelter, rescue group, or from the street.

....to protect my companions from becoming lost
by keeping them safely confined and wearing current
identification at all times.

....to not contribute to overpopulation,
by spaying and neutering my companion animals.

....to provide my companion animals with the basics of food and
shelter and medical care, and to provide them with the love and
companionship they need to be happy.

....to include my companion animals as part of my family,
to socialize them so that they are comfortable in human society,
to train them so that they will be safe and be good citizens.

....to work through problems with my companions,
and to include them in my own life changes.

....to always demonstrate respectful, loving and responsible companion
animal care so that others may learn from my example and
want to do the same.

I make this pledge to the animals,
between them and me,
to the animals I know, and the ones I may never see,
to the animals in my home, and the ones in our shelters
and on our streets,
to the animals here, and the ones yet to come.

I make this pledge to honor their love and companionship,
to acknowledge their intrinsic value,
to respect them as living beings who carry the same precious
spark of life that I myself do.

I understand that the solutions are in my hands.
I pledge to use those solutions, and in doing so, to begin to create a
community and society that shows compassion, love, and respect for
those who cannot speak for themselves.

I make this pledge with love and hope.

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs Everywhere!

Hi Doggies, Winnie blogging here,

We were so busy on Family Friday that we couldn't even post, so I'm gonna post today for Family Friday even though it's Saturday.

Well there has been doggies , doggies, doggies everywhere here lately! My Foster Momma is very busy with New Hope Dog Rescue and so we had 2 more dogs staying with us for awhile. That made a total of 6 of us doggies in the house (and one was a puppy). Things were really busy around here. The 2 other foster doggies came in from a town about 2 hours away from here and were staying with us until they each went to their new foster homes.

Sheena only stayed with us for the day. She is a Border Collie cross who is BALL- CRAZY !!! She is actually bigger than she looks in this picture, but she is quite a bit smaller than the average Border Collie.

So Sheena went to her foster home and then got into a fight with their dog (over a ball- of course!!) and so my Foster Momma had to find a new foster home for her to stay at. Foster Momma was pretty stressed about this for a while there, 'cause it's not always that easy to find another foster home ASAP, but in the end it all worked out. So now Sheena is at the new foster home and is doing very well. She's really happy 'cause there are 2 kids who can throw the ball for her over and over - and that's what Sheena loves!

The other doggie was a puppy who was here for 4 days, until her new foster home people could come and pick her up. Her name is Lily and she was only 3 months old. Foster Momma thinks she is a real cutie. What do you think?

She is pretty small 'cause she was very sick with parvo and almost died. She was nursed back to health by a wonderful Vet and then came to us while waiting to go to her foster home. Foster Momma says Lily is a real sweetie. She loves to cuddle up to Foster Momma's neck. Lily also loves to wrestle and play with Nikki but Casper and Buddy didn't really want to play with her
'cause she has razor sharp puppy teeth. And well since I'm an old girl, I don't really go for all those puppy antics, (nor that active ball-crazy dog either), so I would just growl at either of them if they came to close to me. Foster Momma was not to happy about that and kept sending me off to be by myself. I was in the "doghouse" so to speak. :((

Anyways , I am now happy to report that both Sheena and Lily are now at their new foster homes and life has settled back to just the 4 of us doggies around here. I think Foster Momma and Nikki will miss Lily the puppy but I sure won't! ;)
See ya doggies,

Hi doggies, We saw this Salty Dogs posting and have made up with a new game based on it. Here's how to play.

1. Take the 1st letter of your name and post 3 doggie pictures of something that starts with that letter. It can be as hard or as easy as you want.
2.Then all the other doggies get to guess the answer to each picture.
3.Now it's time to tag 3 more doggies to play. Have fun!!

Casper starts with a 'C' so here are our pictures. Can you guess the word in each picture?

We are gonna tag Tadpole, Joey and the Doofus and Huskee Boy

Family Friday

Hi doggies,
Buddy blogging here. Just thought I would show you some cool pictures from when we went swimming at Bays Waterpaws Canine Aquatic Center which is a special doggie swimming pool in our city. Momma is taking us there to swim 'cause she wants us to be more comfortable swimming.
So here are some pictures.

Here I am swimming in my lifejacket with the nice lady helping me.

And here is proof that I don't need a lifejacket to go swimming!

I look very serious about this swimming stuff!

Here's Casper in his lifejacket.

And here he is swimming without it.

Here is Nikki. She is quite scared of the water, so she kept her lifejacket on. Smart girl!

But Winnie loves the water so she didn't need a lifejacket at all.

Look at that smile!

This time Momma stayed out and took the pictures but next time we are gonna make her come in with us!
Bye Bye,
Hope you enjoyed our Family Friday pictures!

We Interupt This Blog To Answer These Very Important Questions

Hi doggies,

In response to Ernest's query ( see comments from last post) about a Caesar, Blue's dislike of clamato and to all other non-Canadians who may never have heard of such a thing, we have decided to post the answers to these very important questions.

1. What is a Caesar?

A Caesar is a very popular cocktail in Canada and in fact according to Wikipedia is often called Canada's official cocktail. It is made of Clamato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce over ice and served in a glass rimmed with celerly salt and garnished with a stick of celery and a slice of lime. It was originally invented in 1969 in Calgary , Alberta, Canada by a bartender named Walter Chell for the opening of a new restarant at The Westin. The original Caesar was made of tomato juice and mashed clams. Clamato juice was then released shortly afterwards by the American Mott's company. A version without vodka is called a"Virgin Caesar".

2. How is a Caesar made?
Well here is the recipe for the Classic Caesar.

Classic Caesar

Ingredients: • 5 oz Mott's Clamato • 1-1/2 oz vodka • 1/2 tsp hot sauce • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce • salt and pepper to taste

Mixing Instructions:Rim a glass with lime juice and celery or seasoning salt. Fill glass with ice and add above ingredients, stir to mix. Garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge. Enjoy!!

3. What is Clamato juice?

Clamato juice is a mixture of tomato juice, clam broth and spices. Momma says the only brand worth drinking is Motts Clamato which was the original. Momma says the others are all substandard.
4. What does Clamato juice taste like?
Clamato juice has a very unique taste which includes tomato, clam, salty and sweet.

5. Are there other ways to drink Clamato Juice?
Yes, as well as drinking a Caesar, Momma drinks it alone on ice, or sometimes mixed with beer.
6. Do doggies like Clamato juice?
That is a matter of opinnion. Nikki loves it, while the rest of us doggies ( Casper, Buddy and Winnie) will not even try it.

Thanks for reading all about clamato juice and Caesars. Also please fill out our new poll at the top of our blog. Thanks doggies!

A New Friend

Hi doggies (especially the Eskies). Look who I found.

Her name is Sika but she is better known as White Dog. She is a beautiful Miniature American Eskimo- just like me! Well she's beautiful- I'm handsome since I'm a boy dog. White Dog blogs everyday and no one has been visiting her!!! How could this be? So can you drop by and welcome White Dog and her people. She is a real cutie. (maybe she will even agree to be my girlfriend- it would be a long distance computer relationship but still...)
Bye White Dog, see you later, you cutie ;)

More Pet food Recalled!

Hi Doggies, did you know that more pet food has been recalled due to Samonella?

Check out this link http://www.fda.gov/cvm/petfoods.htm#newsreleases

Recalled Aug 25/07-

Krasdale Gravy dry dog food
Red Flannel Large Breed Adult Formula dry dog food

Momma is very upset at those dog food manufacturer's for not making dog food that is safe for us doggies to eat. She has now changed us to a premium brand dog food called Orijen that is made fairly close to here. It has human grade ingredients made from locally produced chicken, fish, and eggs. Of course she always also gives us leftovers from her supper too! Yummy!

A Big Pile of Poop

Nikki here reporting on Family Friday and guess what happened? Momma came home from work tonight and once she walked in the door she said" Who pooped in the house?"

I guess she could smell it. Well lucky me- Momma knew it couldn't be me 'cause I was locked in my crate. and there it was on the rug a BIG PILE OF POOP!

Casper was it you?
