Does Charlie Need Driving Lessons?

We think that Charlie featured in this story by dogblog.dogstuff.com needs to take some driving lessons from Girl Girl and her pink girl girl wheels!

Uh, oh...I think I'm in trouble

Sweet-looking Charlie, the Black Lab, ran off with the family car and made his master do the fetching.
According to the Spokesman Review newspaper, Charlie’s owner, Mark Ewing, had just returned to his home in Slagle, Idaho after getting pizza. As Ewing walked to the house, Charlie jumped into the 2006 Chevy Impala through the open window and somehow knocked the shift lever into neutral.
Sitting on an incline, the car started rolling, picked up speed and plunged into the nearby Pend Oreille River, where it promptly sank.
Charlie leaped back out the window when the car started moving. Fortunately, his owner has a sense of humor, though he told the reporter, “There’s nothing weirder than looking at your car cruising down your driveway when you’re not in it and seeing your dog jump out, and then watching your car go splash"

The MeMe Game

1. Your age? Momma estimates 8 years old.

2. Your age when came to live with your people? Momma was told by the SPCA people and the vet that I was between 2 and 6, so momma decided that I was 4.

3. What color is the collar you’re wearing right now? It has a black background with yellow, green, pink, orange and blue happy faces ;)

4. Who is your favorite person other than the people you live with? grandma and grandpa. I get so excited when they come to visit.

5. How much do you weigh? About 25 lbs. Mean momma has had me on a diet :( I think I should be putting her on a diet!

6. Most expensive thing you’ve ever chewed up? I love to chew up all my stuffies. I chew a hole in them and then I de-stuff them and then I decapitate them and when nothing is left but the soft outer fuzzy part I chew on that and eat it till it comes out the other end of me!!!

7. Do you like other Dogs? oh yes, I love to sniff noses and then sniff butts

8. Who is your best non-human friend? Buddy and Nikki

9. Squeaky Toys or Tennis Balls? Squeaky toys but only if they are inside of stuffies

11. Peanut Butter or Cheese? Both, but even better- can I have peanut butter ON my cheese!!

12. Do your people cut your toenails? Yes, I don't like it to much but I have learnt to tolerate it with the help of lots of treats.

16. What is your best trick? Well I have several: sit, down, stay, get in, heel, shake a paw (right and left), rollover ( right and left), bow, dance, play dead , do circles. Plus I can do all the agility stuff like going through the tunnels, jumping over the jumps, through the tire, weaving back and forth through weave poles and climbing up and down the teeter-totter, A-frame and dog walk.

17. Do you like kitties? Oh yes, I like to chase them ;)

18. What did you have for breakfast? Don't eat breakfast. I eat dog food once a day and I have dog biscuits and people food as treats inbetween

Foster Dog Update

Well you may have noticed that I haven't posted much about Winnie for awhile. She was off at a new adoptive home for a trial period. We were all very happy that she had her forever home , but it just didn't work out. Winnie kept on jumping the fence and escaping. Hummmm wonder if she was trying to find us or maybe that's how she ended up as a stray in the first place? Anyways Winnie is back with us temporarily. We are on a mission to find her forever home. Here she is settled back in at our house.

And Winnie is not the only foster dog we have. Just 4 days ago we got another one too !! At that time we didn't know Winnie was coming back. The new one is Joey . He is about 1 year old, very playful. Joey is such a cutie!!! He is a medium sized, blonde colored mix- maybe has some lab, some terrier, some spitz...some Heinz 57 !!! LOL :) Picture coming soon.

Mom says the house and yard are too small for the three of us and 2 foster dogs, and that New Hope Dog Rescue will be working on getting the foster dogs adopted. But just in case , we are going to be on our best behavior!!!

Were Back!!! (With A Tune for Tunie Tuesday)

Hello doggies, We are back. Buddy managed to dig us out of the Mexican jail and we are happy to say that we are all fine. See here is a picture of the three of us with Winnie ( she wasn't jailed).

Since its Toonie Tuesday we thought we would do a different kind of tune. This one is to celebrate our release. It's sung to the tune of "Bad to the Bone" by George Thoughgood.

Bad to the Bone (in a Mexican Jail)

By Casper, Buddy and Nikki

There we all were

Just a eating some quack grass

Having some munchies

Minding our own busi-nass

When along came a cop

Said "You're bad to do that"

Put us under arrest

And well, that was that!

Next thing ya know we're
In a Mexican Jail
couldn't even get no
letters nor e-mail

All we wanted was
to come back home
But they said,- NO- 'cause
You're Bad to the Bone

Bad to the Bone
Bad to the Bone
Ain't gonna let you
Go back home
Cause you're Bad
Bad to the Bone

Well Buddy got digging
He dug our way out
We escaped that jail
and we started to shout

We're Bad to the Bone
Bad to the Bone
We're heading home
'Cause we're Bad to the bone

Oh yah doggies....

We sure got in trouble
Over some grass
But we'll get 'em back
Gonna bite their A**

'Cause We're Bad to the Bone
Bad to the Bone
Now that were home
WE'RE GONNA EAT SOME BONES!!
YAH!!

A Note from Casper

Hello all our doggie friends,

Thank -you for all your expressions of concern regarding our last post. I have slipped this note to a friendly guard from the other side. As you can see from our post on Wordless Wednesday we were taken captive and put in a Mexican jail. Apparently our crime has something to do with grass. We were all minding our own dogginess chewing on one of our favorite natural outdoor treats , quack grass when we were captured and accused of possession of some other kind of grass???? We are unsure of what this other kind of grass is, but we suggest all other doggies stay away from it as it can really get you into some trouble!! We have tried and tried to escape and have been unable to. Even Buddy can not find a way out and he is the "doggie escape artist" of the family.

The DOG CROSS has been here to visit us and are ensuring that we get more than bread and water. Of course we all like bread, but a little variety is nice too. Our release is currently being negotiated by one of these fine pet lawyers and an Animal Rescue Organization. We are expecting to be released within a few days if all goes well!

Thank -you for all your kind thoughts and wishes,
Love Casper, Buddy and Nikki

OH MY DOG!... Could It Be?

Are Frosty Paws on the way?........My little sister Nikki reports a sighting of vanilla yogurt coming into the house. Now we all know that mama likes PEACH or STRAWBERRY yogurt. And it's been really hot here- like 30 C (86 F). Now I'm figuring ... It's hot out.... vanilla yogurt..... IT HAS TO MEAN FROSTY PAWS ON THE WAY!!!! I will report back to all you doggies as soon as it happens. Keep your paws crossed for Frosty Paws!
